Kenneth O. Rothaus, M.D.

dr kenneth rothaus Dr. Rothaus earned his B.S. as an intensive molecular biology major at Yale College, graduating Magna Cum Laude with honors in biology. His success continued at Harvard Medical School where he also graduated with honors. Dr. Rothaus completed both his surgical internship and residency at the prestigious Columbia Presbyterian Medical Center. He carried out his residency in plastic surgery at the New York Hospital-Cornell University Medical Center, to which he returned as an attending staff and faculty member after performing his microsurgical fellowship at the University of Louisville Hospital, one of the most prestigious microsurgical research facilities in the world. Dr. Rothaus passed the rigorous examinations required for his board certification in plastic surgery in 1982.

Dr. Rothaus shares his extensive knowledge and expertise, as well as his unique commitment to quality care and the doctor-patient relationship as a Clinical Assistant Professor of Plastic Surgery at Weill Cornell Medical College. Additionally, he travels nationally and internationally educating physicians and healthcare professionals about various topics in reconstructive and cosmetic surgery, as well as many laser and other non- surgical procedures. Dr. Rothaus is an Assistant Attending Physician at the New York Presbyterian Hospital-Weill Cornell Medical Center and the Hospital For Special Surgery. His professional memberships include the American Society of Plastic Surgery (ASPS), the American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ASAPS), the American Society of Laser Medicine and Surgery, and the Harvard Medical Alumni Society.

Dr. Rothaus has made and continues to make a substantial contribution to medical knowledge, having written and presented numerous scientific papers, book chapters, and articles on various topics in aesthetic and reconstructive plastic surgery and aesthetic laser surgery. He has also conducted numerous clinical trials of laser and other non-surgical procedures. Dr. Rothaus has appeared several television and radio programs including The View and Good Morning America.

The book that he co-authored with Dr. Theodore Tyberg, Hospital Smarts, provides invaluable information to the average patient in order to empower them, and is considered “recommended reading” by numerous hospitals and medical groups for anyone going to a hospital for care, but especially for teens and parents. As father of three sons, as well as a distinguished surgeon, Dr. Rothaus has profound appreciation for the apprehension a patient (or parent) may feel approaching any medical care, and for the importance of trust and communication in any close relationship—including that between doctor and patient.
